The dentist's email

How the Lezen A2 exam works

You take the exam on a computer at a DUO location. On your screen you see short Dutch texts (an email, an advertisement, a note from school or work) and multiple-choice questions about them. You choose an answer; you never type anything.

Tips that work: read the question before the text, then scan for the detail it asks about (a time, a price, a place). Practise reading a little Dutch every day. The app has free A1 and A2 texts, and the online course starts with two free lessons.

How long is the A2 reading exam? 65 minutes, taken on a computer at a DUO location. This is stated on inburgeren.nl. The exam costs €50 per attempt.

How many questions are in the A2 reading exam? DUO does not publish an official question count. DUO’s own practice exams contain 25 multiple-choice questions in 65 minutes, which is why practice platforms use that number.

What kind of texts are in the exam? Short everyday texts in Dutch: emails, advertisements, websites, notes and short letters. Every question is multiple choice; you do not write anything.
